An Idol is “anything or anyone that captures our hearts, minds, and affections more than God.” (Brad Bigney, Gospel Treason (Phillipsburg, NJ.: P&R, 2012), 24). Knowing God better is not an optional part of the Christian life. It is the Christian life! (Phil. 3:8-11; 2 Pet. 3:18; 1 John 2:3-4; 3:6).
